Refined Rustic Romance: April & Jeremy’s Fall Wedding in the Colorado Mountains

Some weddings feel like the perfect blend of natural beauty, meaningful details, and genuine love—and April & Jeremy’s early fall celebration at Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park was exactly that. With golden sunlight, mountain views, and a design rooted in rich, warm neutrals, their day felt like a heartfelt love letter to both their story and the stunning Colorado landscape.

As their planner, I had the joy of helping bring April’s incredible vision to life—and the honor of earning her trust as a “Type A bride” who needed to know the details were fully taken care of. It was a celebration filled with intention, laughter, and so much love.

The Vision: Luxe Neutrals & Mountain Backdrops

From our first conversation, it was clear that April had an eye for detail and a strong vision for the day. She wanted something warm, natural, elegant—but never fussy. Together, we landed on a refined rustic palette: soft ivories, rich caramel tones, and deep navy blue accents that played beautifully against the stone and wood textures of the venue.

The design struck a perfect balance: elevated and chic, but still true to the couple’s grounded, joyful personalities.

Favorite Design Details

There were so many standout elements from this day, but a few deserve special attention:

  • Ceremony Florals: Set against the awe-inspiring mountain backdrop at Black Canyon Inn’s Boulders site, the floral arrangements by Best Day Florals were lush, luxe, and perfectly scaled. They framed the landscape without distracting from it—a subtle but stunning touch that brought the entire ceremony space to life.
  • Playful Signage: April wanted to infuse a bit of personality throughout the day, and the signage did exactly that. Think cheeky and modern that added humor and heart in equal measure. It never felt out of place—it felt exactly like April and Jeremy.
  • Intentional Details: From the stylish neutral palette to thoughtful guest touches (like cozy blankets and a sweet treat table by Gingerly Baked), every moment was curated with warmth in mind.

Meaningful Moments

Some of my favorite memories from the day had nothing to do with decor—and everything to do with connection.

  • Getting Ready Moments: Watching April and her mom share tender, joyful time together while she got ready was so special. What started as a quiet prep moment turned into a full-blown photo shoot—because, honestly, she looked incredible and the setting was just perfect.
  • April & Jeremy’s Bond: Throughout the day, I kept noticing how grounded they were in each other. In the midst of all the activity, they remained totally focused on one another—reassuring, smiling, locking eyes. You could just tell they were each other’s anchor.
  • A Personal Touch During Dinner: Instead of staying seated, April and Jeremy poured wine for every guest at every table. It wasn’t just a charming gesture—it was an act of love and intention. A way to say thank you, face-to-face, to every person who had shown up to support them. It was beautifully them.

The Realities of the Day (And Why Planning Matters)

Every wedding comes with its unique set of dynamics—and April was honest from day one that keeping their families on track would be part of my job. Because of that open communication, we were able to build flexibility into the schedule, anticipate where time might slip away, and keep a tight loop with all the vendors to adjust in real time when things needed to shift.

That adaptability paid off, especially during the ceremony when Marina (my amazing teammate) and I had to step in as surprise dog handlers for their sweet pups! It was one of those behind-the-scenes moments that no one sees—but makes all the difference.

Working at Black Canyon Inn is always smooth thanks to their amazing team, and this wedding was no exception. Every vendor brought their best, and the result was a celebration that felt seamless and full of heart.

A Note About Trust

This wedding will always be special to me—not just because of the setting or the details, but because of the trust April placed in me.

Starting a new chapter in my own business meant a lot was riding on that trust. April told me from the beginning that she needed someone she could completely rely on, and I’m incredibly proud to say I was able to be that person for her.

She “took a chance” on me, and together we created a day that felt both effortless and unforgettable. That’s the kind of relationship I cherish most—and the kind of planning experience I hope to offer every couple.
